With a booming economy come challenges commensurate in magnitude. Perhaps the most critical of these challenges currently facing the Bay Area is the commute.
Because of the current commute congestion's impact on economic development, quality of life, and regional sustainability, Metropolitan Transportation Commission (MTC) is initiating the first-of-its-kind Bay Area Commute Challenge Pilot to support large employers and help shift some employees into shared-rides, specifically into 2-person and 3-person carpools. With this challenge comes the need for technology capable of making a range of commute options, incentives and benefits readily available to employees — thus the partnership with Luum.
As an organization with thousands of highly-valued employees, you understand the wide-ranging demands when it comes to your employees' daily commute. Being able to effectively manage carpool programs, vanpool lists, parking permits (heck, the whole parking workflow for that matter) and commuter benefits has become increasingly difficult — requiring more and more resources.
With all of this in mind, MTC and Luum are teaming up to deliver the funding support and technology necessary to take your transportation management and commute benefit program to the next level. The Bay Area Commute Challenge represents a strategic opportunity for forward-thinking organizations to begin running commute like a business — one that puts the employee experience first and activates policies, captures comprehensive data, supports program goals and has a very real ROI year-over-year.
How It Works
You're undoubtedly familiar with the MTC and all of the incredible work they do to improve transportation throughout the Bay Area — but chances are your knowledge of Luum is limited. So, here's a little background:
Luum is the leading developer of commute management software for large organizations across the United States, delivering Commute Benefits in a manner that is shaping a new mobility future through employers and their employees. Over the past six years, Luum's team has worked tirelessly to create a solution that brings together the disparate pieces that comprise commute business management — reimbursements, subsidies, eligibility, reporting, end-to-end parking management, reservations and shuttle management — all under one roof.
Through Luum, your organization can easily and efficiently manage Primary and Secondary Measures of the Bay Area Commuter Benefits Program — ensuring you are meeting the program requirements with innovative and wide-ranging employee options. Our ultimate goal at Luum, along with our customers, is to make commute benefits one of the most sought-after employee perks, on par with healthcare.
The results of integrating Luum are felt beyond the streamlining and automation of administrative functions. The effects of having a unified mobility app for your team translates to happier, healthier, and more productive employees. While optimizing parking real estate, leaner management of transportation programs, and lower turnover rates translates to a significant boost to the bottom line.
This call for employers, interested in receiving commute-based funding, is the first step in the process. Our goal is to determine which organizations are best positioned for success in this partnership based on their current commute policies and programs.
